National Museum in the UAE, Ras Al Khaimah Resort
Rating: 8,3/10 (5210 votes)  The National Museum is housed in an 18th century fort built of stone and plaster. Until the early 1960s years, the fort was the residence of the ruling family. A little later, a museum was opened here. The national museum has large archaeological and ethnographic collections. The first floor displays manuscripts, documents and treaties between the British government and the rulers of Ras al-Khaimah. On the same floor, traditional weapons that belonged to the ruling family are exhibited. Archaeological exhibits displayed in the museum show the peculiarity of the settlement of the area by the first settlements at the end of the Islamic period. Particular attention should be paid to the mosaics and terracotta urns of the 18th century, discovered during excavations on the territory of the largest port of the emirates (XIII-XVIII centuries).
