The monument to Soviet soldiers - liberators is located about a hundred meters from Karlskirche on Schwarzenbergplatz square.

The monument is dedicated to those who died during the liberation of Vienna from the Nazi troops soldiers. During the liberation of the city, about 18 thousand people died.

The rapid advance of the Soviet troops saved one of the most beautiful cities in Europe from destruction. Soviet officers and soldiers prevented the destruction of valuable architectural structures, such as St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Imperial Bridge, which runs across the Danube.

The monument is a bronze figure of a Soviet soldier with a banner in his right hand and a machine gun on breasts, which is mounted on a high pedestal. The names of the officers and soldiers who died during the liberation of Vienna, as well as the order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief are carved on the marble of the monument.
