Herder Church, also known as the City Church of Saints Peter and Paul, is a German church built between 1498-1500 in the late Gothic style. The church is located in the old part of Weimar. The double altar, created by Lucas Cranach in 1522, deserves special attention in the interior of the church. The church received its nickname in honor of the famous theologian and philosopher Johann Herder, who read sermons within its walls.
