Photo and description

Panteleimon monastery is located in the city of Odessa on the street. Panteleimonovskaya, 66. The monastery was built at the end of the nineteenth century. For the construction of the building, a stone was used, mined in the quarries of the Holy Mount Athos, which is located in Greece, and brought to Odessa. The monastery endured many trials and was repeatedly closed and revived again.

The services in the Panteleimon Church were finally resumed in 1990, but the revival of the monastery, which many believers expected, began only with the arrival of His Eminence Metropolitan Agafangel at the Odessa See. In 1995, with the blessing of the Eminence, a monastery was founded, and after a long break, in August 1995, the monastic tonsure was performed. December 1996 Metropolitan Agafangel consecrated the main altar of the monastery in the name of the Holy Great Martyr Panteleimon and handed over to the temple part of the patron saint's relics.

The Panteleimon monastery is unique thanks to the stones that carry the energy of the holy place. There are many shrines in the monastery, which are visited by believers from all over the world to worship them. The wonderful image of the Most Holy Theotokos is especially famous.

The monastery amazes with its beauty and grandeur. In recent years, the monastery has significantly renewed its external and internal appearance. The bell tower was restored, a new iconostasis with icons in the Byzantine style was installed in the main church, the walls of three floors were painted. Climbing the marble stairs of the monastery, there is a feeling of climbing the holy Mount Athos.

At the Panteleimonov Monastery, a children's Sunday school, an Orthodox library and a church shop are also open. You can always come to the monastery for services or just enjoy the silence of this majestic temple.
