The Moscow Drama Theater under the direction of Armen Dzhigarkhanyan is located on Lomonosov Avenue. The theater was founded in March 1996. The core of the troupe of the new theater was made up of graduates of the course taught by Professor Armen Dzhigarkhanyan at VGIK.
The original name of the theater - Theater "D". The theater occupied a small room with a tiny auditorium on Kooperativnaya Street. The first show at the theater was a one-man show by Armen Dzhigarkhanyan - "Krapp's Last Tape" (S. Beckett). This was followed by the premieres of the performances "Twelfth Night, or As You Want" (V. Shakespeare, director K. Azaryan), "Kazakin, or Kamzol from Mascaril" (J. Moliere, director K. Nersisyan). "And the theater lives!" based on vaudeville by A. Lensky and A. Bondi. "Lev Gurych Sinichkin" (director V. Druzhinin). "Mozart and Salieri" A. Pushkin (directed by V. Sarkisov). Such a diverse repertoire is the result of hard work and is not always within the power of even venerable theaters. The young theater successfully coped with the difficult task. The theater's performances have a well-deserved success among audiences and critics. Armen Dzhigarkhanyan proved himself to be a very talented teacher.
The theater received a new building with a hall for 500 spectators in November 2002. It is located in a picturesque area of Moscow - on Vorobyovy Gory.
Armen Dzhigarkhanyan's Theater travels a lot across Russia. On tour, he visited St. Petersburg, Perm, Kostroma, Saratov, Kaluga, Yekaterinburg, Cherepovets, Lipetsk, Yaroslavl and Murmansk. He traveled around the theater and numerous cities of the Moscow region.
The theater troupe has many recognizable faces of famous artists: Stanislav Duzhnikov, Andrei Merzlikin, Elena Ksenofontova, Elena Medvedeva, Anastasia Lapina, Anatoly Kot, Marina Shtoda, Anna Babanova and many others. Armen Dzhigarkhanyan himself played a huge number of roles (more than 250) in films and television films. Armen Dzhigarkhanyan's name is entered in the Guinness Book of Records. He is recognized as the most filmed Russian actor.
