Piazza Ferrari is Genoa's main square, located between the modern business center and the Old Town. In the central part of the square, you can see a beautiful fountain, which, along with the Lanterna lighthouse, is one of the symbols of the city. The fountain was built in 1936 with the financial support of the Piaggio family.

The square got its name from the nearby house of Rafael de Ferrari – duke and patron. Previously, the square was called San Domenico, after the Basilica of St. Domenico located on it. In the 19th century, reconstruction work was carried out on the square under the leadership of Carlo Barabino, during which new streets were laid, and the Church of San Domenico was dismantled. At the end of the 19th century, a bronze statue was erected on the square in memory of Giuseppe Garibaldi.

Nowadays, festive concerts and demonstrations of the townspeople are held here. There are many interesting buildings on the square, such as the Gesu Church, the Doge's Palace, the Carlo Felice Theater, the Stock Exchange Palace, the Museum of the Ligurian Academy of Fine Arts.

In 2005, a metro station called Ferrari.
