The author of the project was the architect Lucius Vitruvius Cerdon. In 1805, the arch was dismantled in order to provide passage for the convoys of French troops. The arch was rebuilt in 1930 from surviving material near its original location. The building has one span, its facade is decorated with half-columns, and the opening is decorated with a decorative frieze. Under the arch you can see the preserved basalt pavement of the ancient Roman road. During the Renaissance, the arch served as a model for creating the interiors of many chapels.
