Roman theater in Mainz – one of the largest ancient Roman theaters north of the Alps, excavated just a few years ago. Theater diameter – more than 100 meters, and the number of seats for spectators – 10 000. Mainz has always been of great strategic importance due to its convenient location at the mouth of the Main River. Therefore, even in BC times there was a fortified camp of the Roman legion.
