Church of St. John Aliturgitos in Bulgaria, resort of Nessebar
Rating: 7,8/10 (656 votes)  The Church of St. John Aliturgitos is the largest medieval church in the city of Nessebar. The temple was built at the beginning of the XIV century. The main building materials were light limestone and bricks; colored ceramic inserts were used to decorate the building. The church is a cross-domed structure with a narthex and three altar niches. The floor of the building was decorated with multi-colored mosaics depicting different geometric shapes. Since no services were held here, the temple was named Aliturgitos, which means `` without liturgy. '' В In 1913, after a strong earthquake, the church was seriously damaged.
