Tradition says that the church was founded by an angel of God, who once appeared to a simple local shepherd boy, Petko. The monastery is named after Saint Simeon of Daibab, whose walls are painted and whose relics are buried in the temple today. Outside, the temple is decorated as an ordinary religious building, but entering it, the guest will find himself in a branched into three directions to a cave with an altar in the middle and chapels on the sides. Specially laid tile laying protects the cave from water ingress. The door is specially made smallish so that anyone entering would give an involuntary half-bow to the holy place.
