The central post office, located in the central part of Ho Chi Minh City on the French Commune Square, near the Cathedral of Notre Dame, is a huge old building, made in the colonial French style.

Construction of the building began in 1886 and completed in 1891. The building was designed by Gustave Eiffel, the famous author of the Eiffel Tower.

The modern glass roof crowning this ancient building is very similar to the famous European buildings of the late 19th century, such as the Milan Gallery.

The vaulted windows of the Post Office are decorated with decorative stone, the columns on the sides are crowned with images of human heads. There is a huge clock in the central pavilion of the building.

On both sides of the main entrance to the building there is a map of the state. The interior of the Post Office is distinguished by its elegance – glittering paneled walls, vaulted ceilings and a huge portrait of President Ho Chi Minh.

Without a doubt, this Post Office is the largest in the country, and is also an important commercial center for the city. Due to the limited possibilities for Internet access in commercial organizations and hotels, the Post Office also serves as the main communication center.
