Church of the Holy Martyr Paraskeva in Bulgaria, Sofia resort

The decision to build the church was made by the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in April 1909. In November 1910, a competition was held in which the best architects of Bulgaria and Hungary took part. Architect Tornev won the competition, after which fundraising for construction began. At that time, unfortunately, Bulgaria took part in the Balkan War, and then in the First World War, after which the fees for the construction of the building were lost. In the 1920s, a competition was again held for the design of the church , in which Tornev was again declared the winner. The construction of the church began in October 1922. In April 1930, the central pedestal of the church was consecrated.
