Rating: 8,6/10 (3543 votes) Makronisos is an archaeological site located west of Ayia Napa. A small sanctuary and 19 tombs carved into the rocks were found here. These tombs date back to the Roman and Hellenic periods. Research is ongoing on this area, but visiting the caves is not prohibited. The main attraction of this area is the monastery built in the 16th century, dedicated to the Holy Virgin Mary. Thanks to this monastery, Makronisos is best known.
