The name of this mountain literally translates as"Mount of the Jade Spring". It is located west of the Beijing Botanical Garden. On the slopes of the mountain is the Xiangzi Buddhist temple, which belongs to the school of Chita Earth. The poet Wang Wei wrote about this temple. Also on the mountain is the Yufeng Pagoda.

On the southern slope of the mountain there is a source called the Jade Spring - Yuquan. During the reign of the Ming dynasty, only the emperor could drink water from this source. Every day, water from this source was delivered to the emperor's palace.

During the Qing dynasty, in 1680, Jingming Park was laid out on the southern slope of Yuquanshan.
