Church of St. Stephen in Bulgaria, Nessebar resort
Rating: 7,6/10 (1021 votes)  The construction of the Church of St. Stephen was carried out in the XI century. The temple was originally consecrated in honor of the Virgin. In 1599, a magnificent carved iconostasis appeared in the temple. Today, you can also see the well-preserved pulpit and throne of the bishop, which were made during the Bulgarian Renaissance. Unfortunately, ancient frescoes have been lost, but murals dating from the 16th-18th centuries were discovered. The walls of the temple were decorated with many different figures, and the image of the Mother of God is depicted in the central part. The facade of the church is decorated with the image of the Last Judgment.
