This city is located southeast of the city of Rhodes, 30 kilometers. It is one of the three Doric cities. In the fifth century, it was part of the powerful state-polis of Rhodes.
Mainly in Kamiros they were engaged in agriculture – produced wine and olive oil.
The scale of Kamiros was not inferior to the ancient Pompeii. It can be considered an example of the polis of the times of classicism.
In the city ruins and ruins you can see the square, the Doric temple, the altar for the unknown god and the Doric arch. The oldest ruins date back to the Hellenistic era.
At the very top of the hill is the Acropolis, built on a reservoir to collect fresh water. Particularly worth noting is the massive northern arch built in the 3rd century BC.
