This antique museum occupies an important place in the Paredes Palace. It is known as the Palace of San Isidro, as according to legend it used to be the property of the Vargas, who governed San Isidro.

The building was built by the Lujanes family in the 16th century. You can still see their coat of arms on the capitals in the courtyard. Until the middle of the 17th century, the palace was abandoned. Then he became one of the main city museums. Until the middle of the 19th century, the house was owned by the de Paredes family. The chapel was completed under him. After its decline in 1947, the museum building was partially destroyed and later restored. This new building has recreated the old features: a well, a chapel and a courtyard.

The permanent exhibition of the museum contains exhibits, dedicated to the history of the city and Madrid archeology. Separately stand out are the collections of the Municipal Museum and the former Archaeological Institute, which cover a century in the history of Madrid architecture.
