Prison of Mamertine in Italy, Rome resort
Rating: 8,0/10 (2093 votes)  Mamertine Prison is the oldest building in the city. The prison is located in the northern part of the Forum and the Capitol. Previously, the prison was connected to the Great Cesspool by a duct. in the 4th century BC. the prison was intended for prisoners of war rulers and state criminals, who were waiting here to be held on the city streets during their triumph, and then killed by hunger and noose. During the empire, the bodies of those executed were thrown onto the Gemonia Terrace.
