Its second name is – Church of the Twelve Apostles. It is a cruciform basilica crowned with a dome. The church is dedicated to the conciliar memory of all 12 apostles.

For a long time it was believed that the church was built in the 12th century, but some scholars have found in it elements of 7th century architecture. However, during the restoration, the monograms of the Patriarch of Constantinople Nifont I were found. In these monograms he is called its founder. This means that the church was only built in the 14th century. During its construction, elements of more ancient structures were used: column capitals and more.

Most likely, this church was the main temple of a nearby monastery, which was closed during the Turkish conquest. Between 1520 and 1530, this church, like other temples in the city, was converted into a mosque.

The dome of the church is supported by four arches. The entire perimeter, except for the eastern side, is surrounded by a gallery. The central room of the church is square. In the altar part of the temple, special rooms for the deacon and the altar have been built.
