Teatro La Fenice was built on the site of the San Benedetto theater, which burned down in 1773. In this narrow space, surrounded on three sides by canadles, the architect barely managed to fit the building of the new theater. It was opened in 1792. The greatest composers were inextricably linked with the theater stage: Verdi, Rossini, Bellini, Stravinsky, Prokofiev. Denmark burned twice, but each time it was reborn from the ashes, thus justifying its name - Phoenix (`` Fenice '').
