They are here, and it is customary to dress them up in such a way that often the branches themselves are not visible under toys, wreaths, garlands, hawthorn and sparkles. Of course, due to climatic features, live trees are not everywhere for the holiday. Local residents often get by with palm trees or artificial Christmas trees. The local guys believe in Santa Claus, they try to behave themselves throughout the year, to get the desired gifts under the tree. Gifts, by the way, are wrapped in colored rustling paper. Of particular importance for the Dominicans is the Catholic Church of Saint Altagracia, which is located in a place called Higuey. This Virgin is the patroness of the Dominican Republic, and her miraculous icon, according to legend, bestows health and blessing on those who touch her. A family feast is also held. Dominicans are in a hurry to come from different countries to get together and celebrate Christmas together, with the whole family. Moreover, gatherings can be very unusual, for example, in nature, in a village. Participants in the celebration pull up an awning, turn on music, set a rich table, grill meat over a fire and start dancing. Turkey and pig roasted on a spit are considered traditional Christmas dishes in the Dominican Republic. It also does not do without various fruits, fried bananas, various sweets. Chocolate, apples, nuts are expensive in the Dominican Republic, and the locals cannot afford to eat them every day, but for a holiday they definitely add these products to their table. They drink beer, coconuts, cola and wine at Christmas, which is also a"holiday" product.
