The main festival begins on December 24, believers put on beautiful clothes and go to church. Solemn all-night services are held in all the churches of the country. During these, parishioners sing special Christmas carols. Divine services are usually held in two languages: English and one of the national languages (Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam).

The largest Christmas celebration takes place in Goa. The percentage of Christians among the population of this Indian state and neighboring Kerala is higher than in other parts of India: 30-35% and 60%, respectively. There are always many tourists from all over the world among those celebrating Christmas.
