The Speed Skating Museum is one of the cultural institutions of the city of Chelyabinsk. One of the features of this museum is that it is the only museum of its kind on the territory of Russia. The institution is located in one of the premises of the Ural Lightning Ice Palace, built in 2004. The total area of the speed skating museum is 167 sq. m.

The museum acquaints visitors with the history of the emergence of speed skating and its development not only in the Chelyabinsk region, but throughout the country.

In the South Urals, speed skating began to develop at the beginning first half of XX century The first skating rinks appeared on the Alom field and on the island of the Miass River. After the stadium "Dynamo" (Central) was built, which later became the main base of speed skating in the city of Chelyabinsk.

The Chelyabinsk Museum of Speed Skating presents photographs, films about skaters of Chelyabinsk and the Chelyabinsk Region, skates, sportswear, as well as prizes, cups, copies of medals of the Honored Master of Sports Lidia Skoblikova. In addition, the museum contains a whole collection of films about famous skaters of the country: Inga Artamonova, Boris Shilkov, Yevgeny Grishina, Maria Isakova and Lidia Skoblikova. It also contains materials about young talents and veteran speed skaters, a collection of awards and interesting pins. Museum visitors will be able to see various greetings from Russian presidents in different years of government, the first Soviet cosmonauts and ordinary fans.

Of particular interest is the exposition of champions, where residents of the city who have won the Olympic Games and World Championships, from 1919 to 2006, are represented. Chelyabinsk is proud of its masters of sports. The stand called "Our Coaches" contains biographies with photos of all famous coaches. The collection of the Speed Skating Museum is regularly updated with new exhibits.
