Photo and descriptionGoygol - a national park located in Azerbaijan, on the amazing northern slopes of the picturesque Mount Kapaz, is one of the natural attractions of the Azerbaijan Republic. The area called Goygol has become world famous for its rich forests, unique nature and beauty. The national park was created in April 2008 to preserve this natural splendor. At present, the total area of Goygol National Park is 12.755 hectares. The main purpose of its creation was mainly the preservation of the local biological environment, as well as the development of eco-tourism and the efficient use of natural resources. The national park was named after Lake Goygol. Goygol is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in Azerbaijan. Translated from the Azerbaijani language, the name means "blue lake". This fully justifies its appearance - the water here has a beautiful blue color, while it is clean and transparent. As a result of a strong earthquake that occurred in the city of Ganja in 1139, Mount Kepez collapsed, thereby blocking the path the Akhsuchay river. As a result of this collapse, the amazing Goygol Lake was formed. Among birds and reptiles, the most widespread are: black vulture, chuklik, bearded vulture, vulture, snowcock, alpine jackdaw, Radde's viper, green toad, yellow toad, green toad and copperhead.
