Photo and description

There has always been a special attitude towards donkeys in Cyprus. For a long time, these animals played a truly huge role in the life of the Cypriots: they were practically the only means of transportation, they were used during construction, harvesting and transporting crops. At the same time, unlike horses, donkeys are quite unpretentious in care and food. However, over time, people stopped needing the help of these animals and sometimes left them just on the streets, on the roads and in the fields. Because of this, many homeless donkeys appeared who were not able to survive on their own without human help.

To rectify the situation on the island in 1994, a charitable organization called Friends of Cypriot Donkeys was created. Thanks to her efforts, a special park appeared near Limassol, where such abandoned, and often wounded and sick donkeys could find shelter. The park itself is located in a very beautiful picturesque place and has a rather large area, there is a lot of greenery, and neat paths and picnic areas are arranged for tourists.

Visitors can feed the animals with special food or carrots, which can be bought on the territory of the park, as well as take a walk and take pictures with a vending donkey. This place is especially popular with children.

Since its inception, almost the whole world has learned about the Friends of Cypriot Donkeys and its activities. People from different countries send her money to keep animals. Moreover, visitors to the park can also contribute to a good cause and join the ranks of Friends for a year or more. All you need to do is pay a membership fee.
