Photo and description

The Drama Theater, located in the city of Burgas, is one of the most famous in the country. Today it bears the name of Adriana Budevskaya, an outstanding Bulgarian actress and founder of the professional drama theater in Bulgaria, who lived in the 19th-20th centuries.

Theatrical activity in Burgas began to develop in the last quarter of the 19th century, when local teachers showed on the stage the performances of "Bend of the Machine" by I. Blyskov, "Lovchanski Vladika" by T. Ikonomov and "Long-suffering Genoveva" by D. Voinikov. “Teacher's Theater” did not cease to exist even after the Liberation, delighting its audience with new performances and performances. Gradually, the repertoire of the local theater expanded, at the same time, theater troupes from other settlements began to come to Burgas.

In 1900, a large conference room in the building of the Standing Commission was converted into a salon with a massive five-meter stage. As a result of the development of cultural life in 1914, the city authorities decided to create a subsidized permanent theater in the city.

Due to the Balkan and World War I wars, the theater's activities were temporarily suspended. It was renewed again in 1919. For a rich, almost century-old history, many talented actors, directors and other artists have worked in this place.

In 2011, large-scale reconstruction works were carried out in the building. Today the Drama Theater in Burgas is a complex, equipped in accordance with all modern requirements, in which there are two halls: a large one for 298 seats, and small (chamber stage) - for 105 seats.
