Photo and description

N.V. Gogol in the village of Gogolevo (formerly Vasilyevka, Yanovshchina) was opened in 1984 for the 175th anniversary of N. Gogol. It was here that the famous Russian writer was born and spent his childhood and youth.

The estate was reproduced from photographs, plans, drawings, letters and memoirs of contemporaries, since the original house was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War. In the early 80s. the Gogol-Yanovsky estate was completely recreated. The parental house, an outbuilding with N. Gogol's office have been restored, ponds, a century-old garden and a romantic grotto on the shore have also been reconstructed.

Acquaintance with the reserve begins with a tour of the parents' house. The exposition of the introductory hall opens with the exhibition “Gogol and the Present. The world significance of the writer's creativity ”. Many outstanding figures of the present and the past have highly appreciated and appreciate the work of Gogol. Other sections describe Gogol's fruitful influence on world literature.

In the recreated interiors of the dining room, living room and bedrooms, there is an exposition that gives a vivid idea of the Gogol era, telling about the life and work of the great writer. The museum collection numbers over 7000 items. It includes written, visual, photo, film and video materials, some interior items, original portraits, personal belongings of the writer and his family members. Everything in the reserve-museum tells about the great writer, introduces to the sources of his immortal genius.

Two birches grow on the territory of the reserve museum, which are called the `` father ''; and `` mother '', and next to it there are five more birch trunks that grow from one root. The graves of the writer's parents are located in the park opposite the museum. A park-garden is located next to the house.
