The Lapland Forest Museum is located in the open air among forest-covered mountains on the shores of Lake Sallijarvi. It belongs to the Lapland Forest Museum Association.

The Forest Museum presents forestry traditions that tell the history of logging and timber rafting in Lapland.

There are numerous buildings, objects of material culture, photographs, illustrating the colorful and at the same time exhausting life and work of Lapland workers in logging in the first half of the 20th century. In the 1960s and 70s. the timber industry has become more mechanized and it has become easier to work.

The museum is open during the summer, from Tuesday to Sunday. At other times, excursions are only available by prior arrangement.
