Description, photos and a map showing the nearest significant objects. Photo and descriptionThe Assumption Refectory Church is located on the territory of the Suzdal Spaso-Evfimievsky Monastery. She stands in front of the Transfiguration Church opposite the belfry. The church is one of the earliest tent-roofed architectural monuments in the history of ancient Russian architecture. The temple was built in 1525 (in other sources - in the last quarter of the 16th century). The building is distinguished by a high octahedral tent, set on tiers of kokoshniks and a voluminous quadrangle. The massive apse is decorated with shoulder blades and keeled arches, and has narrow window openings. The lower part of the apse is distinguished by an original decorative design, consisting of small kokoshniks with pots inserted into them with their throats on the facade. The pots are filled with lime and form regular circles. This technique of decorative facade decoration is very rare. The Assumption Church consists of two floors. The second floor has not retained its original shape these days. The church was rebuilt in the 19th century. However, the lower floor managed to keep its original plan. In the middle of the square hall there is a massive pillar, on which the arches of the box structure are held from the walls. This usual architectural technique of the 16th-17th centuries was applied in this building. There was a similar arrangement on the second floor. The interior decoration of the second floor was once decorated with fresco paintings, which were not preserved during later reconstructions and repairs. From the east, the chapel of the Martyr Diomedes is attached to the church in the form of a small pillar-like temple with 3 tiers of kokoshniks and a neat dome. On the other hand, the Assumption Church passes into the refectory, consisting of 2 tiers and covered with a plank roof. The lower floor was adapted for utility rooms. It housed bread, kitchens, and next to it there are two rooms, one of which, according to the monastery legend, was a "stone bag" for the imprisonment of convicts (prisoners chained in stocks). vaults with stripping. A refectory was set up here. The facade cornice of the building is decorated with small balusters, beloved by the masters of the Spassky Monastery. This pattern can also be seen on the monastery churches belonging to the Spassky monastery, for example, on the refectory of the Zolotnikovskaya hermitage. In 1971-1981, the Assumption Refectory Church underwent a comprehensive restoration. In 2001-2008, the restoration work was continued.
