Photo and description

The regional puppet theater "Teremok" is a famous puppet theater all over Vologda. Teremok is considered one of the three regional theaters in the entire Vologda region. It is located in the building of the pre-existing church of Zosima and Savvaty Solovetsky.

The theater was founded in 1937 by Ananiy Vasilievich Badayev, the artistic director of the Youth Theater, also located in Vologda. During 1941-1943 the theater toured on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. In 1966, the theater was moved to a new for him, but radically rebuilt building of the temple of Zosima and Savvaty Solovetsky, in which it is currently located. The name of the theater "Teremok" appeared due to such an unusual form of the former church building. This church was Orthodox and was built in the Baroque style in 1759-1773. In Soviet times, the church was rebuilt and closed more than once. The Temple of Zosima and Savvaty of Solovetsky is an architectural monument of federal significance that existed until 1966.

As you know, Savvaty was one of the very first hermit monks; he settled in 1429 on Solovetsky Island with the monk Herman. Zosima is considered a monk of Novgorod origin, who, after the death of Savvaty, joined Herman and founded the Solovetsky Monastery with him in 1436. In the 17th century, the famous saints became very popular in the North, which was largely due to the Solovetsky uprising in 1657-1676 among the Old Believers. During the 20th century, the Church of Zosima and Savvaty Solovetsky was radically rebuilt. In 1928-1929 it was closed and converted into a club of metalworkers and printers under the name "Red Ray". The building also hosted the Vologda Philharmonic. After a while, the church was reconstructed under the direction of the architect V.S. Banige. Since 1966, a puppet theater has been located in the building.

The versatile activities of not only wonderful directors, but also artists, actors and other people who worked in Teremka made the Vologda puppet theater very popular not only among children, but and adults. At the moment, Elena Bukharina is the director of the theater, and Volotovsky Alexander, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation, has become the production director.

In the Vologda puppet theater there are subscription classes called "Travel with a theater ticket" and "Favorite fairy tales round dance" themed and family parties are held, as well as "Secrets of the Behind the Scenes" - theater excursions.

The Vologda Puppet Theater took part in the Russian festivals "Anthill" in Ivanovo, "Golden Ring" in Vladimir, "Silver Sturgeon" in Volgograd, "Voices of History" in Vologda, "Polar Owl" in Murmansk, and See also Obraztsov International Festival. In 2000, the theater held "Vologda Fun" - the famous Russian puppet festival. September 2005 was marked for the puppet theater by conducting a tour in Moscow as part of the "Days of the Vologda Region in Moscow" program; in 2006 they toured the city of St. Petersburg. In 2007 "Teremok" took part in the International Festival of Puppet Theaters "Kukart", held in St. Petersburg, and in 2008 - in the International Festival "Ant". In May 2008, the puppet theater took part in the Tsarskoye Selo Carnival International Festival in St. Petersburg, and in September 2008 - in the Petrushka the Great Festival.

In November 2010, a theatrical masquerade for schoolchildren “Halloween” was held for the first time in the Teremok Theater, and in the spring of 2011, “Wide Maslenitsa” began its operation. In addition, a newspaper called "Teremosha" is published, and it is from it that viewers can learn announcements, news and many interesting facts about the puppet theater.

The repertoire of the Vologda Puppet Theater includes about 30 performances by famous authors: "By the Pike's Command", "Night on Ivan Kupala", "Elephant", Cinderella "," Thumbelina "," Miracle Turnip "," Gray Neck "," Kitten named Woof "and many others.
