The museum is located in the most beautiful area of the historical center of Minsk, in Muzykalny lane, building 5. The total area of the museum's expositions is 362 sq. m. The building in which the museum is located was built in the early 19th century in the Baroque style. This building is known in Minsk as the House of Masons. On the plan it has the shape of a Masonic cross. There is a legend that a Masonic lodge called the Northern Torch sat in this house. Unfortunately, apparently, due to the secret hiding the activities of the Masons, the legend has no documentary confirmation. The House of Masons was transferred to the State Museum of the History of Theater and Musical Culture in 2011 after restoration. Now the museum houses 10 collections: musical instruments, music manuscripts, documentary materials, photographs and photographic reproductions, posters and programs, visual materials, background recordings, video recordings, memorial things. Such interesting expositions such as "The origins of theatrical and musical culture in the Belarusian lands", where you can see the ancient national Belarusian musical instruments: zhaleiki, earwigs, accordions, rattles, bagpipes, whistles, etc. The exposition "Batleyka" tells about the Belarusian national puppet theater. The museum regularly hosts thematic exhibitions dedicated to the Belarusian music and theater arts, holidays, lectures, chamber concerts, balls.
