Photo and description

Shah's palace is a striking example of neo-Gothic architecture, which still amazes with its sophistication and sophistication. It was built in 1851-1852, by order of a wealthy aristocrat from Poland - Zeno Brzowski. The construction of the palace was supervised by a young and promising Polish architect Felix Gonsirovsky, who arrived in Odessa specifically to realize his creative potential. The palace estate was built in such a way as to make the greatest impression from the sea. So, going up the stairs, gradually the towers of the palace, immersed in the greenery of the trees, appeared before our eyes, then gradually the whole estate surrounded by a magnificent garden became visible.

The Brzhovsky Palace was built opposite a no less famous building in Odessa - the Vorontsov Palace, and they seemed to compete with each other in greatness and beauty. Polish aristocrats owned the palace until 1910, after which it was sold to Count Schonbeck. The name of the Shah - the palace was given during the ten years that Shah Muhammad Ali, the Shahinshah of Persia, lived there. According to various rumors circulating at that time, the shah was expelled from his homeland and was hiding from justice. However, according to other historians, the shah fled to hospitable Odessa from his many wives who haunted him.

By the end of the twentieth century, the palace fell into disrepair and somewhat lost its former gloss and attractiveness. However, after the restoration, which lasted 4 years (from 2000 to 2004), the splendor of the palace shone with renewed vigor.
