Photo and description

The Turkmenbashi Rukhy Mosque, the largest single-domed mosque in the world, was opened in 2004. It is named after the first president of Turkmenistan, Sapurmarat Niyazov, who personally participated in its laying. Its walls are decorated with sayings from the Koran and quotes from the book of Turkmenbashi "Rukhnama". The mosque is designed for 10 thousand worshipers. There is a mausoleum of the president nearby, where not only he, but also his family members are buried.
