The Lisbon Riviera, a 60-kilometer stretch of the Atlantic coastline from Lisbon to Sintra, is one of the most carefully protected sites in Portugal. Alcuseti is a small old town that is part of the Greater Lisbon municipality of the same name. The municipality of Alkusheti is famous for the largest shopping center on the Iberian Peninsula "Freeport" and for its proximity to the longest bridge in Europe - the Vasco da Gama bridge.

The city itself is located on the southern coast of the Tagus estuary. The city is famous for the fact that salt was mined there. The history of the salt industry in this city is shown in the city museum. Even today, salt pits can be seen in the vicinity of the city. In this city was born King Manuel I of Portugal, who is considered one of the greatest monarchs of Portugal: during his reign, the country reached its maximum power.

The Church of St. John the Baptist in the Gothic style - the city's cathedral - was built in the XIV century. In the 17th century, the church was rebuilt in the Manueline style, adding a rose window and a tower to the exterior of the church. Inside the church there is a panel of azulesush tiles, depicting scenes of the birth of St. John, his baptism. Inside, on the walls, there are two paintings from the early 16th century, brought from the Chapel of Nossa Senhora do Conchecao Dos Matos. Since June 1910, this church has been declared a National Monument of Portugal.

In August, bullfights are traditionally held in the city. There is a Taurino Museum dedicated to bullfighting and the life of these animals.
