The residence of President Cheonwadae is also called the Blue House, because "cheongwade" in Korean means "pavilion covered with blue tiles."

The Blue House is the official residence of the President of South Korea. More specifically, the Blue House is a complex of buildings made in traditional Korean architectural style.

The residence was built on the site of the picturesque royal garden during the Joseon era. The residence includes the Main Office, President's Apartment, State Reception Hall, Chunchugwan, Press Office and Secretariat, Guest House and palaces. The total area on which the buildings are located is approximately 250 thousand sq. M. Also adjacent to the residence is Nokjiwon (Green Grass) - this is the territory where the presidents planted trees with their own hands. In the Mugunkhwa Valley, visitors can see the Sharon roses that bloom and bloom from July to October.

For a long time, Feng Shui experts believed that the residence was well located. This point of view was further reinforced by the fact that on the stone wall, which was discovered outside the residence, when the new building was being built in 1990, there was an inscription that read "This land is the most sacred place on Earth." From the northern part of the residence is Mount Bukhansan, from the south - Mount Namsan, which also protected the city of Seoul.

It should be noted that visiting the Blue House is included in almost all tourist programs for guests of Seoul. And it is advisable to visit the residence as part of a tourist group, since for the sake of safety, single tourists are practically not allowed there, because the residence is active.
