Photo and description

Gorelik's house is a monument of architecture and urban planning in the city of Donetsk. It was built for the merchant Gorelik at the beginning of the 20th century. The facade of this building is built in the Art Nouveau style. And the corner of the mansion is decorated with a faceted tower with a sharp dome. Earlier this tower housed a chapel.

Many experts call this mansion the highest quality fully preserved example of "Yuzovsky Art Nouveau". This architectural style was popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is characterized by a combination of freedom in design, a certain pragmatism in the designs & nbsp; and real comfort in small details. This home has two very distinctive features - a quaint balcony and a green tower. In those days, architects imposed cultural fashion on money people, and it was not at all difficult for them to convince them that they do this throughout Europe. Therefore, modernity enjoyed particular success among the petty and middle bourgeoisie. Otherwise, you can see dynamic framing of windows, restrained decor of facades and inserts of ceramic cladding.

Before the 1917 revolution, a Bolshevik underground printing house was located here. In the very first years of Soviet power, this house housed the Tudorovsky club. After that, a radio center was located here. And since 1946 there is a regional administration of local industry.

Some argue that Vladimir Mayakovsky read his poems from the balcony of Gorelik's house for an audience of five thousand people.

In 1977, the architect Mishchenko, who represented the Donbassgrazhdanproekt Institute, developed a project for an extension to the western end of this mansion. The general style of the building was not disturbed because of this. Today, this building houses the regional offices of Privat Bank and Spetshakhtoburenie.
