The activities of the local history museum in the city of Togliatti began in March 1962 on the basis of the already existing museum of the history of the region in the neighboring town of Zhigulevsk. The main direction of the museum is the history of Stavropol (now Togliatti): traditions, customs, culture and life of the region since ancient times.

Today the Togliatti Museum of Local Lore is considered the best museum of the Samara region, which stores the monuments of the spiritual and material culture of the region.
