Architectural complex "City Creators" description and photos - Russia - Volga region: Togliatti. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photos and a map showing the nearest significant objects. Photo and descriptionOn the central square of the city of Togliatti there is a memorial complex dedicated to the founders of the city. It is located on the site of the monument in honor of the builders, which has not been built since 1977. In 1999, the idea of a memorial sign to city planners was revived again by announcing a competition for the best project. In 2000, a new project of the architectural complex "City Creators" was adopted. The center of the constructed complex is the sculpture of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, opened and consecrated on November 5, 2004. The height of the sculpture on a granite pedestal is four meters. Nicholas the Wonderworker is depicted sitting on a stone, in one hand he holds the Bible, with the other he distributes a blessing. The author of the idea of the monument to the "Creators of the City" is the Togliatti sculptor A. I. Rukavishnikov, who chose for the monument an image from the history of the local region. Since 1842, having established the main throne of the Wonderworker Nicholas in the 55-meter bell tower at the Trinity Cathedral in the old city, the saint began to be considered the patron saint of Stavropol (now the city of Togliatti). Behind the monument in 2006, a belfry with a clock was built, thanks to which a melodic bell chime is heard every hour over the central square of the city. The area around the architectural complex was ennobled: flower beds were laid out, benches were installed and illuminated with lanterns. The architectural complex "City Creators" is the memory of the people who created the city of Togliatti.
