Photo and description

The Rosalia-Kogelberg Nature Park is a favorite place for walks and picnics for both Austrians and Hungarians. This reserve was founded relatively recently, but immediately gained widespread popularity. Now it is protected by the state. The entrance to the park is free.

The Rosalia-Kogelberg Nature Reserve is distinguished by a variety of landscapes - there are quite steep hilly areas with gentle ravines, absolutely flat plains, and even several forest zones. The Vulka River flows throughout the park, but there are also many ponds and small lakes scattered here.

The banks of the Vulka River are distinguished by high fertility. Therefore, several abundant fruit trees were planted in the park. There are also a variety of healthy wild berries, especially strawberries, which are so large here that the locals even call them a subspecies of pineapple. Due to the mild climate, trees and shrubs, most often found in the more southern regions, also grow here, including some subspecies of edible chestnuts. There are also several vineyards here.

The Rosalia-Kogelberg Nature Park is also a nesting place for rare bird species. A variety of owls, woodpeckers and hoopoes are found here. Therefore, the reserve is especially popular among zoologists and ornithologists. There are also many trails in the park suitable for cycling and hiking, however, please note that some of the ascents can be quite steep and even slightly dangerous.

It is worth noting that the Rosalia-Kogelberg Park often hosts fairs selling fresh fruits, berries, local wine and honey. They are especially common near the Forchtenstein and Drassburg castles and the spa village of Bad Sauerbrunn.
