Photo and description

The house-museum of Adam Mitskevich, the great Belarusian poet, was first organized immediately after the revolution. By the decision of the Military Revolutionary Committee on September 16, 1920, a museum was created and the collection of the collection began.

In 1921 Novogrudok became part of Poland. Thanks to this event, the eldest son of Adam Mitskevich Vladislav, who was born and lived in Paris, had never been to his father's homeland, had the opportunity to visit his native land. In 1924, the Mitskevich committee was created. In 1938 the museum was opened. Through the efforts of the Mitskevich Committee, a unique collection of historical things related to the life and work of the poet was collected. In 1941, a German aerial bomb hit the museum. Priceless exhibits were lost, the house was destroyed.

After the war, the restoration of the museum began. An exact replica of Mickiewicz's house was built on the remains of the foundation. Bit by bit collected the exhibits of the museum. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Adam Mitskevich, on November 26, 1955, the house-museum was reopened in Novogrudok, in the city where the poet's childhood and youth passed.

In 1989, a large-scale reconstruction of the house and outbuildings began in order to reproduce the historical monument as accurately as possible. In 1993 the Warsaw Literary Museum named after A. Mitskevich joined the work. On September 12, 1993, the house-museum was opened after reconstruction. Now the exposition includes more than 5,000 items.

In the house-museum of Adam Mitskevich, excursions dedicated to the life and work of the poet, exhibitions, poetry and music evenings are held. The house-museum participates in the annual international action "Museum Night".
