Bjorko Island is located on Lake Malaren and is famous for its ancient viking settlement. This settlement was founded here in 750, and in 830 Saint Ansgari, the patron saint of all Scandinavia, arrived here.

Now a museum is open here, where items discovered during the excavation of Viking burial mounds are presented. There is also an old-fashioned 'Viking Village' with shops and restaurants.
