The Viking Age Culture Museum is located outside the city of Ribe itself, about two to three kilometers south of the historic center. It is an open-air museum founded in 1992. Not far from the museum is the picturesque town of Lustrup.

The museum covers an area of 10 square kilometers. It houses a reconstructed Viking Age village, consisting of many squat wooden houses, recreated in accordance with archaeological finds unearthed during the numerous excavations in the area. The village consists of a market square and various agricultural land, as well as a small stream runs through it, on the bank of which there is a model of a Viking boat. The appearance of the settlement approximately dates back to 710-980 years.

This museum allows tourists not only to plunge into the world of a medieval village, but also to try themselves as a local craftsman or warrior. Here are classes in archery, minting coins, smelting nails. You can also bake a small loaf of bread in an ancient oven or engage in a real battle with swords or spears.

Every summer, a medieval fair is held on the territory of the Viking Age Museum - lovers of Scandinavian culture come here from all countries, creating authentic household items and decor with their own hands in accordance with the traditions of that era. At the same time, various tournaments and falconry are organized here.

For children, there is a special amusement park dedicated to Scandinavian mythology. The guys can fight the hellish wolf Fenrir or the serpent Jormungard. The museum also has a souvenir shop selling various toys on the same theme, and a restaurant serving traditional Scandinavian cuisine.
