Photo and description

The Nino Aquino Park and Wildlife Center was once part of the Quezon Memorial Park, created in 1954 and covering 197 hectares. Later, the territory of the park was reduced to 64.5 hectares. Then another part of the park was given to the Philippine High School of Science and the National Government Center. Today, Nino Aquino Park covers only 22.7 hectares.

The park was opened to the public in 1970, and in 1982 restoration work was carried out on its territory, during which a craft village, a fishing village, a stadium and rest rooms were built. At the same time, water supply equipment and a lighting system were installed. In 1986, the park was named after Senator Benigno Aquino, who actively fought against the dictatorship and died for his ideas in the same year.

You can get to the park through several entrances, for example, along the footpath that runs along Quezon Avenue and opens onto a wide asphalt road. At the end of it stands the building of the administration of the park, and in front of it rises a bust of Nino Aquino. On the right are two giant cages that contain rare Filipino eagles, parrots and cockatoos. Following a winding path to the right, you can find yourself in front of the Aqua-House with several aquariums with freshwater fish. Behind him in a large cage lives a very rare beast - a bearded pig from the island of Palawan.

If you go further north, you will certainly find yourself at the building of the Bureau of Protected Areas and Wildlife and the Center for Wildlife Rescue. The Bureau is authorized to collect rare species of animals taken from illegal traders and owners. Here these animals are fed and then returned to the wild. The inhabitants of the center are birds and reptiles, huge snakes and various mammals.

In the park, you can have a picnic, find playgrounds for children and even a huge artificial lake. On the shores of this lake, surrounded by lush thickets, there are traditional Filipino houses that can be rented for a while.
