Photo & DescriptionThe National Museum of Ghana, located in a house on Barnes Road in downtown Accra, opened on March 5, 1957. The complex consists of three thematic galleries: The Past of Ghana; "Traditions"; "Artistic Culture of the Country". In the galleries, respectively, exhibits from Africa of the most ancient period are presented; sculptures and canvases by famous masters of the past and present; samples of traditional clothing, local musical instruments, and sacred tribal artifacts such as the Ashanti ancestral chairs. Also at the exhibition you can see the regalia of the leaders; Ghanaian national musical instruments; scales for gold; beads; traditional textiles, stools and pottery; paraphernalia for ritual dances, agricultural tools and devices for the production of cast iron.
