The famous theater for young spectators in the city of Vologda appeared in 1976. The theater is also famous as the Theater for Children and Youth. The first director of the Youth Theater was Ya.V. Nuss, and directed by V.P. Barons - it was these people who recruited young graduates of the Novosibirsk Theater School to the theater. During the first four years, the theater did not have its own building, so he traveled a lot around the cities of the Vologda region, staging performances in houses of culture, schools and other venues not intended for this.

Today the Youth Theater is located in the building of the previously existing Pushkin People's House, in which it has existed since 1979.
The first performance of the Vologda Tetra of the young spectator took place on May 31, 1976. In 1980, the Theater for Young Spectators was awarded the State Prize of the RSFSR named after Stanislavsky K.S. for staging "Forgive Me" based on the famous play by Viktor Astafiev, directed by Valery Baronov.
