The Ethnographic Museum is located on the territory of the estate of the Kogiomtsoglu brothers, large tobacco merchants. The traditional mansion was built between 1860 and 1866, and around the same period, the amazing frescoes by artists from Xanthi and Bavaria were completed.

Twin symmetrical buildings and surroundings are combined into a harmonious, magnificent ensemble. It is one of the most striking examples of typical residential complexes that began to be built in the city of Xanthi during the last period of Ottoman rule, starting in 1830.

The museum's exposition includes many collections of local costumes, a number of paintings, in the halls house organ, gramophones, textiles and embroidery, household items, various decorations, agricultural implements, Thracian costumes and tobacco products. The museum contains the projects of the floor plans of the buildings of the complex, painted with wax on silk fabric. The original decorative ceilings are a special attraction of the museum.
