The Luxembourg City History Museum first opened its doors to the public in 1996. Like the city itself, the museum harmoniously combines the past and the present. Actually, the building of the museum is a whole complex of four restored residential buildings, erected in the 17-19 centuries, with an original addition in the form of a modern glass facade. For up to 65 people, the huge panoramic elevator is also made of glass, which allows you to fully enjoy the breathtaking views of the Grund area and the Ram plateau on the upper floors. and at the lower levels it is good to see the rocks. The old vaulted cellars, discovered during excavation work in the early 1990s, are also open to the public.

The museum's exposition perfectly illustrates, also thanks to modern multimedia and interactive technologies, the history of urban planning in Luxembourg and introduces in detail its guests with the cultural, economic, political and social development of the city since its foundation. The museum collection includes paintings, sculptures, topographic models (on a scale of 1: 666), furniture, tools and equipment, photographs, historical documents and much more. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum hosts various temporary exhibitions on a regular basis. Particular attention is paid to conducting a variety of general education programs for children.
