Photo and description

The city harbor of Vrsar is one of its main attractions. It acquired its present appearance in the 19th century. It was during this time that a large number of new buildings were built outside the city walls, which were located along the coast, often right next to the water line.

Medieval sources claim that the area around the harbor was called Fabian. There were warehouses that belonged to the Porech diocese in the 12-17 centuries.

The archaeological zone, where you can see the remains of Roman villas, begins at the Lima Canal and ends near Funtana. This is due to the fact that on the site of modern Vrsar there was the ancient Roman settlement of Ursaria. A large number of public buildings dating from the same time are also found around the bay.
