The small town of St. Lorenz, located on Lake Mondsee, is a popular summer resort. It is located under the Drachenwand rock, the name of which is translated from German as "Dragon Wall". It is a high, almost sheer cliff, which, however, can be climbed to enjoy the view of the turquoise lake spread below and the many hazy alpine mountains. There are a lot of picturesque peaks in the vicinity of St. Lorenz. On the slopes of most of them there are hiking trails that lead to viewpoints, from where you can see not only Lake Mondsee, but also the neighboring Alpine bodies of water.

St. Lorenz is an ideal place for active sports. People come here to play golf, ride a rented yacht, swim in the crystal clear waters of the lake. Cycling trails and hiking trails are found around Lake Mondsee. In winter, downhill skiing lovers gather here.

At a depth of 2-4 meters in the Mondsee lake near the coast in the town of St. Lorenz in the 19th century, the remains of the oldest pile dwellings dating from 3600-3300 were discovered. BC e.
