The Lychakiv cemetery of landscape-park type has existed since 1786, when the Austrian authorities forbade burying people in old cemeteries located in the city near churches.

Since 1991, the cemetery has become part of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve. Outstanding Polish, Austrian and Ukrainian figures who represented the scientific and cultural circles of their time found rest here. The cemetery can be called another open-air museum. Here you can find real works of art - gravestones, statues, crypts. The most ancient burials are concentrated at the entrance and along the central alley.
